Try to ask anyone about marketing and you will get surprised because most of them mixing the concept of marketing and sales together, actually they may say “marketing is how to advertise about your product or services”.
But actually marketing is achieving the long term objectives of any organization, it is not about bring in money in the moment, it how we can bring money in the feature.
So the questions in each one’s head, that business article and its talking about marketing how that would helps us in anything, I will insist that each employee in the organization needs to know what is marketing, because the of the following:
1- Your project manager is looking for how to satisfy the customer.
2- Your HR manager is looking for how to comfort employees to get the best of them.
3- Your Team Leader is looking how to develop the team.
4- Your company is looking for good reputation (Local or International) , (quality services or products).
All this point marketing is taking care of, how? Marketing is the way to achieve long term goals, so if you know marketing you will simply by small look to company history and company present you can define the top level management vision, and nothing better understanding their vision, and you don’t know how much that will help you building your career.

Marketing is to how satisfy customer, not losing one, even you are gaining many, it also about how use each mean to give a good image about the company and satisfied customer can give this image to other customers of his class, Satisfied customer means a good bonus J.
Marketing also is focusing on types of employees (ONE SHAPED or T-SHAPED), and the channels you can develop your employees, it also focus on how to build a good loyal employee,
